Frequently Asked Questions About Honey

Everything you need to know about varietal Slovenian honey.

Acacia honey is most suitable for children – it is the lightest, with a delicate taste without bitterness and slow crystallization. Children under 1 year must not consume honey.

Nectar honey (acacia, linden, flower) is produced by bees from floral nectar. Honeydew honey (fir, forest) comes from honeydew – sweet secretions of aphids or plants on various trees. Honeydew honeys are richer in minerals.

Fir honey contains the most mineral substances (iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc, copper, selenium). Followed by chestnut honey with linden and forest honey. Nectar honeys (acacia, linden) have fewer minerals.

Monofloral honey is produced from one predominant plant species – e.g. acacia honey from acacia plantations. It is guaranteed by migratory beekeeping: we move bees exactly when one type of plant is blooming. This way the honey is purer and has the recognizable characteristics of that plant.
